Hyundai has announced details of the 2018 Santa Fe.
This is the 4th generation of the Santa Fe and offers many changes to the current model. The new model is larger than the current model but is still a compact seven seater vs something like a Toyota Kluger. Due to the use of high strength steel this car is lighter too.
Most models will use a 2.2L turbo diesel that produces 144kW and 436nM mated to an eight speed automatic. A new all wheel drive system, called HTRAC, with variable torque control should offer an improved driving experience.
Inside the cabin has been refreshed and legroom in the second row is up 38mm and the seats are 18mm higher. To make access to the third row easier a new one touch slide and fold system has been installed. The third row also has 22mm extra headroom. Luggage space is up 40L to 625L.
Australian specs have not been confirmed but the base model will probably have a 7.0 inch screen and higher spec cars will have an 8.0 touchscreen with Apple Car Play / Android Auto and 3D satellite navigation.
Hyundai SmartSense safety system should be offered. This system includes autonomous emergency braking, radar cruise and lane assist.
