Audi has announced details of the new A6. The car should be available in Australia late 2018.
The new model is physically bigger than the older model but Aldi has made the car look sportier with a one piece grille and sloping roofline.
In Europe, the car will have two engines available.
A V6 turbo charged petrol engine producing 250kW and 500Nm. 0 to 100km/h sprint in 5.1 seconds. This engine is mated to a seven speed dual clutch transmission and quattro all wheel drive system.
A 3.0L diesel engine producing 210kW and 620Nm. This engine is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission.
Both engines have been paired with a 48V hybrid system to improve fuel efficiency.
Four suspension tunes will be available: steel springs, sports suspension, adaptive damped setup or full air suspension.
To improve rigidity both steel and aluminium have been used and parts of the car such as the front suspension strut domes, doors, boot and bonnet lid are made out of aluminium to save weight.
Like many executive cars the A6 has lots of technology such as it can autonomously pull into or out of parking spaces and garages, while top-spec cars are equipped with five radars, five cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors and a laser scanner. Dual screen infotainment is standard – 10.1 inch touchscreen in the dashboard plus 8.6 inch climate control display.
